Episode Notes

11: The NGO Game by Dr. Patrice McMahon

Linda announces she will attend the premiere production of Nancy’s play, This Mortal Life Also, which is part of the Lied Season for Performing Arts (Lincoln, Nebraska) 2021-22 season. Then we dive into The NGO Game and talk about our desire to help people who have suffered international human or man-made disasters, but realize, many times, the money never reaches the very people we want to help. Even it if does, the assistance is not provided in a way that is culturally-appropriate or will last beyond a short-term fix. Linda and Nancy reflect on their high school experience fixing up homes in Kentucky through the Appalachian Service Project. Nancy offers Charity Navigator as a good site for researching American non-profits.
